Public Records Requests

Ohio law requires state and local agencies to make public records available for review and copying. Pursuant to section 149.43 of the Ohio Revised Code, the Broadcast Educational Media Commission (BEMC) will fulfill any request made according to the guidelines below.

The ORC also lists certain public records that do not have to be disclosed. These exemptions are intended to prevent unreasonable invasions of personal privacy or the use of public records for personal or commercial gain.

Public records requested must be identifiable--in other words, your public records request must include a reasonable description that would allow a BEMC employee to locate the records. A general question is not a public records request.

Records may be reviewed by the public on business days, Monday thru Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cost for records:

  • No charge for email electronic copies;
  • 5¢ per printed page;
  • $1.00 per disc for documents downloaded on disc, upon request; and
  • Reimbursement of mailing costs.

  • Full name
  • Valid E-mail address
  • Valid Phone Number

  • List of records requested
  • Date range of records requested
